Biochemistry Specialist (Finance)

You are the scientist Illumina is looking for! In your future role at the Madison site of the global front-runner in genetic sequencing, you will be one of a group of scientists who produce the fuel for Illumina's sequencing, which is used in the study of genetic variation and function in realms from cancer research to agriculture.

As part of a diverse, self-directed team, you will be responsible for completing the cGMP manufacturing of a wide variety of enzymes using-state-of-art processes and equipment, participating in team-based improvement projects, and be expected to participate in an inquisitive scientific environment. You will also work with other teams in a collaborative environment. We want your talent, genuine curiosity about applied science, enthusiasm for creative problem-solving, and drive to get things done.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • GMP manufacturing of wide variety of DNA modifying enzymes through a range of purification process at varying scales. All in accordance with a production schedule.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a scientific team and participate in team meetings and initiatives.
  • Edit and revise area work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Contribute to investigation and resolution of technical problems.
  • Assist with continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform analyses of processes, identify gaps and deficiencies.
  • Maintain organization and inventory of lab supplies, equipment, and reagents.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. in weight and stand for periods of time during the manufacturing processes.
  • Other duties that may be requested by management.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of laboratory or manufacturing experience in biotechnology, biomedical, biochemical or food manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and take initiative.
  • Excellent laboratory, organizational, and research skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on diverse team.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to interface across functions.
  • Experienced in problem solving and reasoning skills.
  • Proficient computer skill set in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Excel.

Education

  • BS in biochemistry, engineering, chemistry, biology, or related field or AS in biochemistry, engineering, chemistry, biology, or related field with a minimum of 2+ year of related laboratory experience.

The estimated base hourly range for the Biochemistry Specialist role based in the United States of America is: $25.04 - $37.54. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
