Sr. Engineer 2 - Infrastructure Platform Engineering (Information Technology)

The Infrastructure Platform Engineering Team is responsible for defining, developing, implementing, maintaining, and advising on the effective use of the Publix VMware based technology solutions to maximize their value. This position will play a key active role towards those efforts with a focus on implementation, security, administration, and iterative automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Software and hardware installation, configuration, integration, and support
  • Project design and architecture
  • Systems and network management activities
  • Problem determination, resolution, and prevention
  • Systems security, vulnerability remediations, and regular audit tasks
  • Facilitate project team participation, provide technical excellence, and foster a culture of shared growth through collaboration & shared responsibility
  • Maintain new technology awareness through self-driven research & practical proof of concept efforts with an end goal towards systems integration of current and future Publix technology state
  • Maintain vendor relationships while extracting maximum value for Publix with effective time utilization.
  • Create, review, collaborate, and update documentation for internal and peer customers.
  • Develop and iterate automation processes, self-service portals, and monitoring tools to ensure consistency, maintain deployment velocity, and increase efficiencies.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or analytical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience implementing, supporting & upgrading, securing, and migrating core VMware technologies including vCenter, ESXi, VSAN and NSX
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing VMware Cloud Foundation product stack such as Aria, vROPS, vRLI, SDDC, LCM, vIDM, SRM, and vRNI
  • 4+ years of experience implementing, supporting, and migrating Windows Server & Red Hat operating systems in a highly segmented and secure virtual infrastructure.
  • 4+ years of experience with various hardware vendors product stack
  • 3+ years of experience leading medium to large projects from requirements through implementation
  • 2+ years of experience in Infrastructure Automation using scripts and tools such as PowerShell, Terraform and Ansible
  • Experience with various infrastructure platform management tools, such as vCenter, HPE OneView, DELL Open Manage, VMware Skyline, etc.
  • Experience in managing, capacity planning, supporting, and migrating guest virtual machines of various operating systems in a highly segmented and secure virtual infrastructure
  • Experience with platform-related dependencies to include server, containers, NAS/SAN, hyperconverged solutions, core network design concepts, and hybrid cloud solutions
  • Experience in developing, maintaining, and executing operational automation technologies, such as Azure DevOps, VRA, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Orchestrator or SCCM OS Deployments
  • Good understanding of various System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies including traditional waterfall as well as agile methodologies (i.e., SCRUM, Kanban, etc.)
  • Experience working with vulnerability management tools, compliance audits, and remediation implementation & tracking activities
  • Experience working in a process structured environment which includes Change Management and Disaster Recovery Preparedness
  • Solid understanding of the functional and operational practices necessary to operate in a highly available, highly secure, and highly regulated environment to meet business, security, and compliance requirements
