 COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

  • Lead Specialist, Generation Interconnection - $ 95,200 - $ 123,700
  • Sr Generation Interconnection Specialist – $ 85,800 - $ 109,450
  • Generation Interconnect Speicalist III – salary range - $ 76,000 - $ 96,900

Come join our organization as a Specialist on the Generation Interconnection team

We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialist – Generator Interconnection (GI) to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design and execution of complex business processes, tools development, and compliance activities related to SPP's GI Tariff services. This includes guiding strategic initiatives, ensuring regulatory adherence (FERC, NERC, SPP Tariff), and driving process improvements across Engineering functions.

This is a leadership-focused role requiring a deep understanding of tariff studies, financial and business management, and technical regulatory compliance. You will regularly collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and executive leadership—making independent decisions that shape department outcomes.

Ke y Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute high-quality GI tariff services and compliance-related analyses.
  • Design and implement tools and processes for GI studies, interregional coordination, special studies, and automation efforts.
  • Ensure adherence to FERC, NERC, and SPP Business Practices and regulatory changes.
  • Develop and manage financial reporting, billable staff accounting, and budget tracking related to Engineering deliverables.
  • Represent Engineering in internal and external stakeholder meetings, working groups, and strategic forums.
  • Guide and mentor team members; review and approve work products to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives with departments such as Accounting, Treasury, and Credit Risk.
  • Provide strategic insight and contribute to executive-level presentations and decision-making.

 To be successful we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field or equivalent experience
  • Lead Specialist, Generation Interconnection - Ten (10) years of job-related work experience
  • Sr Generation Interconnection Specialist - Seven (7) years of job-related work experience
  • Generation Interconnection Specialist III - Five (5) Years of relevant job-related experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Expert communication skills and the ability to successfully interact with internal and external stakeholders
  • The exercise of independent judgment
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work across multiple departments
  • Strong oral and written communications
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and/or environments
  • Ability to work with multiple priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Advanced understanding of industry compliance requirements (such as NERC, FERC, SPP's OATT)
  • Experience in the electric utility industry or similar regulated industry, Information Technology,
  • database management systems, data analysis and ad hoc report writing
  • Proficiency with communication and data handling software such as Microsoft Office© Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the electric utility industry, database management systems, data analysis and ad hoc
  • report writing
  • Experience with advanced decision-making in a multi-client environment
  • Experience with project management and software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Familiarity of one or more power systems analysis tools applicable to power system steady state, dynamic, production costs & economics, or database management systems
  • Advanced degree in related field of study.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines

 Position Type, Location, and Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work week are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.

 Travel Requirement:

This position requires minimal travel (approximately 0-15%)
