Agile Product Owner - U3000 Intake & Quote (Finance)



The Agile Product Owners Advisor drives the execution of the multi-year roadmap for underwriting tools/processes by leading an Agile Scrum team as part of the Intake and Medical Quote Optimization (I&Q) program. This includes representing Risk Management and Underwriting (RMUW) by defining business requirements, enhancing business processes, and prioritizing work to be delivered by the scrum team. The successful Agile product owner is a trusted advisor for both business and technology partners, independently driving change, challenging peers and partners, and innovating the user experience to accelerate growth and improve the user experience.

Responsibilities:

Represent line underwriters and key business partners to optimize Contour Quote and transform the future underwriting toolset

  • Build relationships with underwriters and presale partners to identify efficiency opportunities throughout the presale and renewal process.
  • Participate in discussions with UW enablement, IT and Pricing partners at various levels within the organization to articulate business needs.
  • Drive for short-term solutions consistent with long term vision as established by the operational strategy team.

Decompose Jira features and detailed user stories in support of I&Q program

  • Leverage agile best practices to document build requirements and define success criteria.
  • Partner with UWIT to deconstruct larger capabilities into incremental building blocks and write features and user stories.
  • Maximize value delivery by prioritizing features into incremental steps to improve our tools and business processes.
  • Document detailed acceptance criteria to enable multiple teams to develop test scenarios and validate successful completion of each business capability

Manage delivery of incremental building blocks for the I&Q program:

  • Establish project plan to achieve delivery of features using an Agile delivery framework.
  • Assess impact of proposed changes on process and organization
  • Recommend process changes to accommodate proposed new capabilities or solutions
  • Coordinate with peers in UW training and communications to build change management / communication plans related to proposed changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in business or related field or equivalent related business experience.
  • Agile certification required (i.e. Product owner, scrum master, SAFE, etc.)
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality process transformation across presale and underwriting applications
  • 3+ years of experience building or testing new capabilities across Contour Intake and Quote
  • Strong understanding of medical quoting workflow for new business and renewals
  • Proven ability to foster collaboration across multiple stakeholders and business teams
  • Demonstrated ability to define business and technical requirements (user stories) and plan/prioritize work for at least one agile scrum team
  • Ability to independently innovate processes and creatively solve business problems
  • Strong verbal/written communication, presentation, and organizational skills, including to the ability effectively communicate and interact with management across the organization.
  • Pega knowledge and experience is strongly preferred
