Outstanding Opportunity for BC/BE Pediatric Emergency Medicine Specialist in Jupiter, Florida

Nicklaus Children's Hospital, a 325-bed freestanding children's hospital and ACS-verified Level 1 pediatric trauma center, and Nicklaus Children's Pediatric Specialists, the physician multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children's Health System, are seeking a BC/BE pediatric emergency specialist at the Mastroianni Family Pediatric Emergency Department at Jupiter Medical Center, located in Palm Beach County.

Jupiter Medical Center and Nicklaus Children's Hospital are making pediatric care even more accessible to residents of Florida's Palm Beach and Martin counties with the Mastroianni Family Pediatric Emergency Department. Nicklaus Children's Hospital, the trusted choice for pediatric care in South Florida, continues to share best practices, policies and procedures developed and continuously enhanced over its more than 70-year history. This partnership also includes the 12-bed De George Pediatric Unit and 16-bed De George Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Experts from both institutions are collaborating to provide world-class pediatric emergency care. The Mastroianni Family Pediatric Emergency Department is a standalone 6,300-square-foot pediatric wing, specifically designed to be a family-focused, child-friendly environment, with services/amenities including:

  • State-of-the-art Mindray monitoring that communicates with the Electronic Health Record system
  • 7 Pediatric-specific beds and 2 triage rooms
  • 8,642 Visits in 2024

Applicants should possess a passion for advocacy and improving care for all children. The physician candidate should either be BC/BE and fellowship trained in pediatric emergency medicine or BC in general pediatrics with three years of Pediatric ER experience.  The Jupiter Medical Center pediatric emergency medicine team will provide 24/7 in-house coverage. Clinical duties include management of inpatient pediatric admissions, consultation on specialty patients, coverage of deliveries and nursery patients on night shifts with available backup from a board-certified neonatologist. 

Job Summary

The position is for a BC/BE Emergency Medicine physician (PEM or General Pediatrics with 3 years peds ER related experience) located at Jupiter Medical Center and is primarily a clinical position related to the diagnosis, treatment and clinical management of pediatric patients in a multidisciplinary environment that includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, clinical scientists and social workers. The position offers exposure to a mix of general and high acuity pediatric patients. The position also includes teaching and supervision of medical residents and provides opportunities to participate in research and publishing.

Job Specific Duties

  • Applies knowledge of growth and development in customer interactions and treatment.
  • Continues to actively self-educate (i.e., reading journals, CME credits, NCH conferences, etc.).
  • Coordinates and/or develops and delivers monthly inservices to meet staff and resident development needs.
  • Coordinates follow-up of tests, lab studies, and patient follow-up phone calls.
  • Directly provides clinical services to patients including, but not limited to: performing and recording history and physical examinations, recording and interpreting pertinent patient data, developing and documenting a treatment plan, writing routine orders for appropriate laboratory studies, x-rays and consultations, performing patient/parent teaching, assisting with patient follow-up, performing appropriate screenings, administering medications as required, ordering and/or performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by patient findings.
  • Makes suggestions to Department Director and/or attending staff that may be beneficial to the improvement of the department.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement, Research and Publishing.
  • Participates in teaching of and is role model to medical students and residents.
  • Participates in the call schedule as assigned.
