As a Vice President focusing on asset management in the civil engineering space, you'll be the strategic leader responsible for ensuring our airport's physical core—from runways and taxiways to bridges, roadways, parking and essential underground systems—is always flight-ready, resilient, and prepared for its next big leap.

Reporting directly to our Chief Development Officer, you'll be the master planner and navigator for our ground-based assets, meticulously overseeing their lifecycle, from initial design to long-term renewal and replacement. Your Essential Tools for a Smooth Flight

  • Deep Industry Knowledge: You possess an extensive understanding of public sector management, airport operations, and the intricate federal, state, and local regulations (including FAA and environmental laws) that govern airport design, construction, and asset management. You're well-versed in airport-specific facility planning, program management, and construction best practices, including a grasp of sustainability concepts that keep us looking to the future.
  • Exceptional Leadership & Communication: You're a natural leader, skilled in employee supervision, team building, and motivating a diverse group to reach ambitious goals. Your communication is clear, concise, and persuasive, whether you're explaining complex technical details or navigating sensitive discussions with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strategic & Analytical Mindset: You can "see around the corner," anticipating challenges and strategically planning for long-term infrastructure needs. Your analytical and logical problem-solving skills allow you to dissect complex data, formulate sound conclusions, and make informed decisions.
  • Master of Project & Financial Management: You excel at project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, ensuring projects stay on track and within financial parameters. You're adept at negotiating agreements and resolving disputes with various stakeholders.

  • Relationship Architect: You have a proven ability to build and nurture strong, effective working relationships with everyone from public officials and airport tenants to employees, attorneys, and external consultants.

Compensation:

  • Salary to be commensurate with experience

What You'll Do:

  • Provides strategic and technical direction, management, and oversight of consultant services in support of conceptual, preliminary, and final design engineering efforts.
  • Develops strategic direction for capital improvement plans.
  • Reviews technical content and requirements in construction plans and specifications
  • Prepares and maintains budgets and estimates for development projects and programs.
  • Researches, negotiates, and facilitates resolution of disputed matters.
  • Ensure adherence to Authority Policy and Procedures and all Project Controls Instructions. Makes recommendations for modifications as appropriate.
  • Leads a team of professional staff and inspires the team to achieve department and organizational goals, adopt new positions or opinions, and promote shared organizational mission, vision, and values.
  • Performs additional related work as required.

What You Need: 

Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction, or related field.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in civil engineering, construction, or related field.

 

Experience:

Required:

  • 10 years of project management and design oversight work experience at a commercial service airport or comparable industry experience of similar scale and scope.

Preferred:

  • Project Management and design oversight experience at a medium-hub or larger commercial service airport.

Licenses or Certifications:

Required:

  • Valid NC Driver's License

Preferred:

  • Professional Licensing (Civil Engineer)

Typical Work Hours: 

  • 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday

Location:

  • On-site RDU Airport Campus
