Job Description:

About the Role

We're looking for a highly skilled Resident Network Engineer to deliver on-site technical expertise and operational support for Juniper Networks solutions. This hybrid role blends hands-on troubleshooting with strategic design consultation, ensuring the customer's network remains robust, scalable, and future-ready. You'll be embedded within the customer's environment, acting as a trusted advisor and technical lead.

Location: Customer site, New York (2-3 days/week)
Work Hours: May include extended hours and after-hours support

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level support for Juniper platforms: MX304 routers, EX switches, SSR routers, and Mist supporting Routing, Switching, SD-WAN and in the future, Wifi.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues, manage JTAC cases, and coordinate RMAs
  • Lead maintenance window activities: MOP creation, execution, validation, and post-checks
  • Conduct technical workshops and design sessions to align with customer requirements
  • Test and validate new features, patches, and configurations in lab and production environments
  • Generate regular reports on network health, design progress, and issue resolution
  • Support migration projects and ensure seamless implementation
  • Train customer teams and help develop operational procedures and best practices
  • Collaborate with other Resident Engineers to share insights and reduce upgrade risks
  • Expand knowledge across Juniper's product portfolio and emerging technologies

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Service Provider or MSO environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with Juniper JUNOS, MX/EX/QFX/SRX platforms
  • Deep understanding of routing protocols: OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, EVPN
  • Familiarity with NOC/SOC operations, datacenter migrations, IP fabric, NAT64
  • Proficiency in TCP/IP, VPNs, tunneling, Layer 2 Ethernet, and subnetting
  • Exposure to virtualization platforms (VMware, OpenStack)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to lead training sessions
  • Certifications: JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP (Security); JNCIE, CCNP/CCIE preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Cisco technologies (strong plus)
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux, JUNOS CLI, and scripting
  • Hands-on experience with Spirent, Agilent N2X, Ixia test tools
  • Strong initiative, independence, and a customer-first mindset

USD Annual Salary: $101,900.00 - $234,500.00
