This role demands a strategic leader who will guide a passionate team of communicators, creators, and activators and collaborate with peers and executives across the company. This role is responsible for understanding and engaging prospects and customers, landing and expanding PEMCO's brand, generating and increasing profitable business, and extending and amplifying PEMCO's industry leadership and community impact.

This is not a role for everyone. It is an extremely challenging position that requires breadth and depth across a wide range of marketing disciplines, deep customer and business insight, individual resilience, and organizational agility. Coupled with a passion for and ingenuity at tackling and innovating customer-driven solutions in a highly regulated and constantly evolving industry.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop and drive an integrated marketing strategy including strategic communications; brand; creative; go-to-market activation; corporate partnerships; and community impact
  • Partner with cross-functional peers to ensure an integrated customer journey and optimal customer experience, analyzing and incorporating customer data, feedback, market trends, competitive data, and service results   
  • Drive engagement, performance, and development of cross-functional team, instilling a culture of collaboration, innovation, curiosity, and results  
  • Develop and manage budget to ensure efficient allocation and effective upper, mid, and lower funnel results
  • With the Chief Experience Officer, drive evolution and execution of PEMCO's brand architecture and strategy, collaborating internally and externally to ensure a unified expression and experience across all initiatives and channels 
  • Drive PEMCO's internal and external communications strategy that delivers compelling narratives, nurtures trusted media relationships, builds external thought leadership and impact, and manages PEMCO reputation and risk
  • Oversee creative and content development, driving innovative thinking and execution excellence to deliver emotionally engaging and visually compelling storytelling and content  
  • With the Manager of Go-to-Market Activation, ensure planning, execution, and measurement of go-to-market strategies and data-driven omnichannel campaigns that leverage consumer insights and market data to deliver results 
  • With Corporate Partnerships & Community Impact Manager, develop and nurture brand collaborations, events and community initiatives based on aligned values, to accomplish shared objectives 
  • Partnering with Product & Underwriting, guide product positioning and messaging to clearly articulate customer value and market differentiation, and with Sales to create a unified go-to-market strategy and engine
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales to develop successful strategies and campaigns that attract new customers and keep current customers
  • With the Customer Insights team, develop and drive customer insights strategy, research agenda, and analysis, using insights to define, refine, and optimize marketing efforts and improve the customer journey and experience
  • With Product, Underwriting, and Sales, build and drive market awareness, translating market data and competitive insights into actionable, results-focused strategies 
  • Lead development and reinforce implementation of an annual marketing calendar to prioritize and drive campaign and content creation, delivery, assessment, and refinement 
  • Establish content development processes and tools that enable scale and efficiency while ensuring inclusion of the critical stakeholder feedback and approvals needed
  • Oversee evolution and implementation of marketing technology strategy and support, assessing and refining utilization, performance, and integration with other customer-related resources and tools (data management platforms, content management systems, customer relationship management tools, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience (Marketing, Business Administration or equivalent) required
  • Master's degree with marketing focus (MBA or equivalent) beneficial
  • 10-15 years of experience leading, driving high performance, and professionally developing cross-functional marketing leaders and teams within corporate marketing functions or agencies  
  • 10-15 years of experience in developing, executing, and driving results from large-scale, multi-channel platforms and initiatives 
  • Deep expertise in integrated marketing – brand and lead generation; campaign, content, and creative development; corporate partnerships; community impact. Proven track-record developing and executing end-to-end strategies that align with cross-functional strategic goals, brand positioning, and internal engagement. 
  • Strong partnership and collaboration with Product, Sales, Customer Service, IT – amongst other functions – to ensure an optimal end-to-end customer journey and experience 
  • Proven agility navigating matrixed environments, managing multiple agency relationships, and collaborating and influencing across functions
  • Digital and marketing, and certified marketing professional certifications of interest but not required 
  • Leadership & Managing Others: Establishes and communicates a compelling and inspiring vision, creates winning strategies and plans, ensures team goals are aligned with company goals; creates and develops processes that enable work; develops self and others

  • Program Management: Effective at establishing, driving, and reinforcing project management practices and standards, delivering projects on time, on budget, and with the resources anticipated.
  • Business Environment: Understands insurance industry and related business landscape and trends. Spots early indicators of change and adapts strategies and tactics quickly. Applies consumer-centric lens, always putting the customer at the forefront of strategies, programs, and initiatives 
  • Data & Narrative Savvy: Strong command of integrated marketing KPIs, campaign analytics, customer insights. Ability to work across the art and science of marketing – knows how to interpret data, extract insights, and leverage them to tell creative, innovative stories.
  • Organizational Savvy: Natural collaborator with team-first mentality; can lead through both influence and authority. Interfaces cross-functionally with technical depth and business savvy. Understands company goals and objectives; thinks critically about business challenges and resolutions. Demonstrates keen listening and observation skills to spot and bring to life the little things that make the organization unique. Strong executive presence and influencing skills, especially aligning cross-functional stakeholders, excels at inspiring others to achieve a common goal.

  • Continuous Learning: Practiced and disciplined at staying up to date with and implementing latest marketing, technology, and relevant trends, tools, and strategies. MS 365 proficiency required.

Compensation:

The pay range for this role is shown below. Compensation decisions are determined based on an individual's qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

  • Greater Seattle area target pay range: $221,280-$270,454.  The full pay range is $184,400-$307,333.
  • Outside greater Seattle area target pay range: $195,284-$238,680.  The full pay range is $162,737-$271,228.

Greater Seattle Area is defined as working within approximately 100 miles of Seattle.

Outside Greater Seattle is defined as working approximately 100 miles or more from Seattle.

Benefits:

Regular part-time PEMCO employees working at least 24 hours per week and regular full-time PEMCO employees are eligible to elect coverage under medical, dental, and vision plans for themselves and their eligible family members with generous employer premium cost shares. In addition, as a benefits-eligible employee, you are:

  • covered by employer-paid basic life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance policies as well as long- and short-term disability benefit coverages.
  • eligible to participate in PEMCO's 401(k) plan which includes a generous employer match (2 for 1 on the first 6% employee pre-tax and/or Roth deferral, up to federal maximums). 

PEMCO provides the following paid leave programs for benefits-eligible employees in their first year of PEMCO employment:

  • Vacation accrues at a rate of 10 days for new hires, and increases based on a schedule to a maximum annual accrual of 25 days based on tenure.
  • Granted four (4) personal days immediately upon hire.
  • Paid holidays for the eight (8) holidays observed by PEMCO throughout the calendar year.
  • Granted up to ten (10) days of sick leave immediately upon hire (pro-rated based on hire date and full-time/part-time status), which is approximately 28 hours more per year than the Washington state-required accrual.
  • In addition, PEMCO provides paid time off for bereavement, jury duty, and employee volunteering in the community.

Other compensation depending on role, contributions, and performance may include:

  • Discretionary bonuses
