Chemical Engineer (Finance)
The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech's Helena office is seeking a Mid-Level Chemical Engineer that will work with a dynamic team to develop and implement high quality solutions for our clients with operations in several market segments. The successful candidate will work closely with Principal and Project Engineers, Scientists, and Project Managers on a variety of environmental remediation, solid waste, mining, oil and natural gas, and industrial plant operations projects. This position may have a hybrid work arrangement, but the candidate must reside within 50 miles of the local Helena or Bozeman, MT offices.

Your Role:
- Assist with engineering design development.
- Preparation of environmental compliance documents.
- Report and technical memorandum preparation.
- Development of engineering cost estimates.
- Development of bid specifications and contract documents.
- Remedial options evaluations.
- Construction oversight.
- Environmental sampling.
- Environmental data compilation, review, and evaluation.
- Site reconnaissance.
- Strong problem solving, time management, and written and verbal communication skills are required. The position may require some travel, typically related to construction oversight, environmental sampling, and site reconnaissance.
Qualifications:
- B.S. Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of engineering experience.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license desired, EIT required.
- Education and work experience should be related to one or more of the following areas of chemical engineering: water treatment system design/operation; bioremediation; municipal engineering; storm water management, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling; mine geochemistry; mine water treatment; cost estimation; environmental regulations; water balance modelling; heavy earthwork construction; water quality.
- Experience should include the fundamentals of chemical and biological engineering.
- An understanding of local, state, and federal programs, permits, and regulations related to waste water, stormwater, and environmental remediation.
- Ability to perform field data collection and construction oversight.
- Strong skills and proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft-based software, including MS Excel, for data analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to summarize scientific data and model outputs in concise, readable language.
- MSHA and/or OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred.
- A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Target salary range: $75,000 to $85,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
