Senior Event Manager - The Palmer House (Finance)




The Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel is looking for their next Senior Event Manager.

This iconic hotel located in downtown Chicago features 1641 guestrooms and 130,000 total square feet of meeting space. This hotel has the famed Empire Room, the Red Lacquer Room with elegant chandeliers with garnets, to the Honoré Ballroom named in Bertha Honoré Palmer with 77 breakout rooms.

Our ideal candidate is an upbeat, outgoing professional with at least 2 years of experience in event management and a proven track record of detailing and executing large-scale events for groups of 150 or more attendees.

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with flexibility to adjust hours as needed to be present for assigned group meetings and events at the hotel.

Salary: $73,000.00 based on applicable specialized experience and location.

What will I be doing?:

As Senior Event Manager you will be responsible for event documentation and coordination with Sales, hotel departments and customers to ensure consistent, high level service throughout the pre-event, event, and post-event phases of all hotel events. This position primarily handles complex events. You will be required to ensure a seamless turnover from sales to service back to sales. Recognizes opportunities to maximize revenue by upselling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events. Serve as the event planner primary contact following turnover on property and is responsible for his/her experience.

As a Team Member in this role, you will be responsible to:

o To organize, plan and prioritize your duties by developing plans and goals.

o Timely communication to internal and external clients via telephone, email, written documents or in person.

o Create and maintain relationships with clients to set and meet client expectations and deliver on those expectations.

o Demonstrate knowledge of job systems, products, booking systems, and processes.

o Resolve conflicts and negotiate with others while handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts.

o Selling and influencing both internal and external clients.

o Make decisions and solve problems by analyzing and evaluating the issues and determining the best solution.

o Ensure high quality service by communicating and assisting others to understand the guest needs, providing direction and guidance, feedback and individual coaching when needed.

o Participate in customer site inspections and assist with the sales process as necessary.
