Global E-invoicing Technical Strategy Sr. Manager (Finance)



Job Description:

The Global E-invoicing Technical Strategy Sr. Manager will serve as a strategic technical enabler across Vertex's functions. This position provides technical depth, regulatory context, and scalable knowledge to support the different teams from a technical perspective. The ideal candidate combines strong e-invoicing domain knowledge with technical solution expertise to empower internal stakeholders, streamline go-to-market execution and accelerate customer success across jurisdictions.

This position will support the development and execution of project implementation strategies and serving as an internal subject matter expert (SME) for e-invoicing. Combining hands-on technical expertise with regulatory knowledge, the Sr. Manager will enable internal teams and partners to accelerate customer success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted technical enabler across GTM and delivery teams - supporting alignment on roadmap decisions, launch planning, and customer readiness.
  • Participate in partner onboarding, certification and readiness assessment from a technical capability lens.
  • Support Product and Engineering with validation of regulatory requirements, functional workflows, and edge-cade use cases.
  • Partner with global professional services to ensure successful handover from pre-sales to implementation through reuseable playbooks, patterns, and onboarding kits.
  • Support project design and scoping by advising on approach, data requirements and integrations considerations.
  • Lead the development of reusable technical assets (templates, configuration guides, test scenarios, and onboarding kits to standardize project delivery.
  • Provide internal teams with depth insights into global e-invoicing and digital reporting mandates, including formats (i.e. XML, UBL, etc.) exchange models (i.e. Peppol, SDI, Chorus Pro, etc.), and local compliance nuances.
  • Support the interpretation of regulatory updates into actionable technical guidance.
  • Serve as a regulatory-to-technical translator for jurisdictions with evolving and/or upcoming mandates.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years in e-invoicing technical enablement or tax technology roles.
  • Proficiency with ERP and financial systems and their integration points for e-invoicing.
  • Strong experience in supporting or leading implementation strategies for compliance solutions.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in e-invoicing, technical intelligence, or a related domain, with proven expertise in functional specifications, schemas, and digital signature protocols.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in e-invoicing frameworks, XML schemas, digital signature protocols, and related technologies.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of global e-invoicing regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze, interpret, and apply technical specifications to compliance scenarios.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working collaboratively across functional and regional teams.
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience supporting multinational e-invoicing operations.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in digital invoicing and electronic transactions.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving regulatory and technical landscapes.
  • Certification in relevant technical domains or e-invoicing frameworks (e.g., PEPPOL, SAP e-invoicing solutions).

Pay Transparency Statement:

US Base Salary Range: $157,900.00 - $205,400.00

Base pay offered to new hires may vary based upon factors including relevant industry and job-related skills and experience, geographic location, and business needs.* The range displayed does not encompass the full potential of the role, which allows for further growth and career progression.

In addition, as a part of our total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Vertex Bonus Plan (VOB), a role-specific sales commission/bonus, and/or equity grants.
