The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in implementing Individual Support Plans (ISPs) in collaboration with program participants and their support teams, ensuring that individuals receive the necessary support to achieve their goals.

How will I contribute

Provide prompt support to students facing issues that may affect their well-being by observing, assessing, and reporting concerns to the program administrator.

Assist students in reaching their fullest potential by collaborating with them and their ISP Team. Work together to learn, identify effective strategies, and overcome implementation challenges, while helping residents develop the specific skills necessary to achieve their goals during each support interaction.

Transport participants to community events and outings.

Opportunities are available to be a driver, to transport individuals we serve on a fixed route to and from their homes.

Driver responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort, conducting daily vehicle inspections and reporting any maintenance or safety issues.

Facilitate individual and group learning experiences.

Uphold the agency's positive reputation by engaging with individuals both within and outside the Kings View community through professional conduct and effective communication.

Achieve positive outcomes in direct support for 85-94% of paid time by collaborating with students rather than working for them, while effectively managing support activities within the established ISP timeframes. Maintain accurate records, including timely completion of all daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly support documentation, and track participant progress towards goals.

Collaborate with Kings View team members by participating in team meetings, maintaining accurate documentation, responding to inquiries, and engaging in proactive problem-solving.

Maintain positive relationships with students.

Promote healthy group dynamics by ensuring mutual accountability among community participants regarding established boundaries and expectations. Provide conflict resolution and support as needed, while consistently completing assigned tasks and events.

Perform additional tasks to support program operations as assigned. These may include collecting attendance, organization of supplies, planning community outings, gathering curriculum materials, facilitating small groups/classes focusing on specialized skill acquisition or knowledge, providing 1:1 services or mentoring of new team members.

Attend all required meetings, training sessions, classes, and seminars for continuing education.

Participate in IDT meetings as directed.

Complete required continuing education, training, and certifications each year to meet Title 17 and Title 22 requirements as applicable to the position and assigned program(s).

Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program

Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program participants' needs. Understand, adhere to, and actively implement the Kings View Residential Services: Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Staff Covenant, staff professional conduct standards, program-specific policies and procedures, and the holistic supports and services model. Ability to perform emergency first aid and CPR as needed. Able to create appropriate systems for developing and implementing support plans.Positive attitude, solid work ethic, responsible, self-disciplined, creative, culturally competent, empathetic, socially perceptive, flexible and adaptable. Must be at least age 21 and comply with Community Care Licensing personnel requirements: have a criminal record clearance, evidence of good health (pass a physical) and a negative TB test.
