Summary

Faculty at Southwest Baptist University serve as content experts in their field and fulfill the mission through faith integration in the academic setting. ?

Physical therapy faculty members teach 18 graduate course credits for a 9-month appointment which allows time for teaching, mentoring of students, development of self and profession, clinical competence, participation in program accreditation, curriculum evaluation, service to the University, research and other scholarly activity.?

Faculty members establish work procedures and priorities within imposed deadlines and departmental goals. Faculty teach courses as assigned by the division head and the college dean and abide by the responsibilities as defined in the Faculty Handbook.??

Essential Job Duties

Faculty Responsibilities:

Teach assigned curricular load credits

Advise and mentor students

Meet with and advise potential applicants

Participate in research and/or scholarly activities

Comply with University guidelines for faculty responsibilities and service to the University

Engage in professional development and responsibilities

Maintain clinical competence

Assist in the evaluation and development of curricula

Attend and participate in division and college meetings

Attend and participate in division student events

Conduct ongoing program assessment through data collection, review, and analysis

Serve as mentor and content expert for adjunct faculty

Participate in program student success efforts such as remediation, success plans, etc.

Ensure a positive and effective learning environment for students

Maintain office hours, punctuality, and attendance

Set an example of a Christian lifestyle for students, staff and faculty?

Position Requirements

Required

Earned academic doctoral level education degree (i.e. PhD or equivalent)

Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Program

Experience or advanced education in areas of teaching responsibilities Licensed in Physical Therapy or eligible for licensure in Missouri

Knowledge of curriculum and teaching area.

Work Environment

Position related tasks may involve a possible or unplanned exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.

Work is performed in a general office environment with some noise.

Physical Abilities

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Sitting: Sitting for extensive periods.

Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing and otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 dB loss at 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound and phone use.

Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Visual: Ability to visually inspect, prepare, and analyze data and figures. Perform tasks related to accounting, transcription, computer terminals, extensive reading, and operation of machines.
