Production Quality Operator (Project Management)



POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Quality Operator (PQO) plays a critical dual role function at Nicolet Plastics by supporting both production and quality assurance efforts. Approximately 70% of the time, this position will function as a Production Operator, responsible for safely operating equipment, assembling and packing components, and meeting quality and productivity standards. The remaining ~30% of the time, the PQO will focus on quality responsibilities, including startup inspections, responding to quality concerns, controlling nonconforming product, and assisting with quality projects. The PQO acts as the primary quality resource on the shift and supports a seamless integration between production and quality standards.

Essential Functions Statement(s) Production
Operate machines and secondary jobs to meet quoted cycle time requirements.Follow Production Control Plans (PCP) and work orders for quality, packaging, and labeling requirements.Set up and operate weigh scales for part counts and inventory accuracy.Perform visual and dimensional inspections per PCP and record data in IQMS as needed.Communicate with Process Technicians and Production Team Leader regarding product quality and job status.Use barcode scanners to track finished goods and packaging supplies.Maintain inventory accuracy by matching carton labels to pallet labels.Sort parts and perform value-added processes during press operation.Communicate with prior and following shifts to ensure continuity and address concerns.Assist and overlap with other cells as needed.Promptly bring awareness to leadership when deviations from PCP instructions are required.
Essential Functions Statement(s) Quality
Conduct startup inspections and approval of production runs on the shift.Respond to and resolve product quality concerns in real-time.Identify, quarantine, and contain nonconforming product.Initiate and maintain Material Review Board (MRB) records as required.Collaborate with Production Team Leader and Quality Team to manage deviations and ensure compliance.Assist with quality projects as assigned.Maintain accurate and complete quality documentation and records.Support customer satisfaction by ensuring that quality standards are met or exceeded.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)Minimum of 12 years experience in a manufacturing environment.Experience with inspection tools and techniques preferred.Familiarity with IQMS or similar ERP system preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.).Strong communication and collaboration skills.Ability to work independently and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand for long periods of time; walk, handle tools, or controls; communicate and listen (hear). The team member is occasionally required to climb or balance. The team member must frequently lift and/or move parts, reports, files, office supplies, etc. weighing up to 40 pounds. Be able to handle, grasp, and perform repetitive motion.
