Automation Controls Engineer (Finance)



As a Controls Engineer at MacLean-Fogg, you will design, program, and optimize automation and control systems that keep our manufacturing operations running at peak performance. Your work will directly improve efficiency, quality, and safety in our facilities, helping us deliver world-class industrial solutions to our customers.
Job Details
  • Position Type: Full-Time/Salary (Exempt)
  • Pay Range: $75,000 - $90,000 (depending on skills and experience)
  • Work Location: Onsite - Mooresville, North Carolina 28115
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement automation and control systems for manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and modify PLC, HMI, and embedded control applications.
  • Lead setup, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and system upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot control systems to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to boost efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, including system specifications and procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth system integration.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all automation work.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills/Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell, or similar) and HMI development.
  • Hands-on experience with control systems, automation, and embedded systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate system performance and optimize processes.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in technical work and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in control systems engineering, PLC programming, and automation.
  • Proven experience developing and troubleshooting PLC and HMI applications.
  • Solid math and analytical background for system optimization.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Required to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to push/pull objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending and stooping required.
  • Must have the dexterity to handle small objects.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments.
