Transportation Engineer - ITS and TSM&O (Project Management)



Ardurra is seeking a Transportation Engineer with experience in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) to join our team in Miami, FL.

Ardurra's Transportation team offers design capabilities ranging from complex multilevel interchanges to urban arterial reconstruction to complete streets for our clients. We also provide specialized experience in various types of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and systems integration including computerized traffic signal system, street, light rail transit, advanced traffic management system and automated travel information systems.

Primary Duties: 

  • Collaborates with Leadership and the Business Development Department to lead technical responses to the Request for Qualifications and assist in business development opportunities 
  • Candidate will collaborates with Leadership and the Business Development Department to support or lead ongoing project, tasks or technical responses to the Request for Qualifications for projects involving Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) and Connected Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) initiatives
  • Provide support in the planning and/or preparation of planning documents, strategic plans, Systems Engineering Processes (PSEMP, ConOPs, RTVM, Technology Evaluations and Recommendations, etc)
  • Participates in client/public meetings and presentations
  • Manages project staff of engineers and technicians as required and assigned for the project(s) tasks to achieve successful results for the client
  • Develop conceptual plans for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) initiatives
  • Conceptual plans and requirements development for Connected Vehicle/Autonomous Vehicle (CV/AV) technology projects
  • Review and development of ITS, Signalization and Lighting plans and supporting documentation (Signal Operations Plans, Timing Plans, Lighting Design Analysis Report (LDAR), etc.
  • Develop signalization plans design and quality assurance reviews
  • Conduct field reviews, existing condition assessment, system inventory and concept design development
  • Assist with technical proposal writing, design fee estimates and project construction cost estimates using FDOT Basis of Estimate criteria
  • Review and update Long Range Estimate (LRE)
  • Application of FDOT Standards during concept and plans preparation
    • FDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction
    • Standards Plans
    • Florida Design Manual
    • Florida Greenbook
    • MUTCD
    • Highway Capacity Manual (HCM)
    • Highway Safety Manual (HSM)

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or better in Engineering (Civil or Electrical Preferred)
  • 5 to 8 years relevant experience
  • Florida Licensed Registered PE or ability to obtain Florida PE validation within six months of hire
  • Specialty Certifications such as PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) or PMP (Project Management Professional) are desired
