Safety, Health & Environmental - Supported Employment Intern (Finance)



Overview: This internship program is designed for participants from The VCU Rehabilitation Research and Training Center. Altria is excited to offer a hybrid internship program running from September 15th, 2025 to December 6th, 2025, featuring both in-person and virtual training opportunities. The program provides flexibility, with options to work from home for designated tasks. Upon successful completion of the internship, there may be an opportunity for part-time conversion.Job Description:
Altria is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) team. In this role, you will support the development, maintenance, and improvement of training programs that ensure compliance and readiness across multiple operational areas. You will receive on-the-job training, access to a diverse group of mentors, and professional development opportunities. The intern will be challenged and empowered to participate in the following activities:
  • Assist in mapping training requirements to Job ID numbers using spreadsheets and internal systems.
  • Track organizational changes and update training assignments accordingly.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of training curricula and assignment profiles in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Coordinate with SH&E, Security, Cybersecurity, and managers in other departments to identify training needs based on job roles, tasks, and access requirements.
  • Contribute to audits of training data, calibration records, and safety eyewear programs.
  • Support invoice verification processes and data accuracy reviews for regulated programs.

Plain Language:
An SH&E Intern will:
  • Help match training to job roles and keep records up to date.
  • Work with Excel spreadsheets and systems to track training needs.
  • Help create and update training plans in the computer system.
  • Work with other teams to figure out who needs what training.
  • Help with paperwork and requests for training changes.
  • Keep track of who has completed training and help fix problems.
  • Help with safety checks and reviews of training and equipment records.

Rate: $15.45 an hour, 20 hours a week
