Junior Network Engineer (Finance)



JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE

The Junior Network Engineer is responsible for providing junior level technical expertise to the administrative and technical efforts involved in managing the organization's network operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides network operations administrative support
  • Provides direction to others involved in network and applications support roles
  • Provides expertise in Internet/Intranet (WEB) connectivity and access
  • Provides expertise in the ongoing maintenance and support of the organization's network including network hardware and software configurations, troubleshooting and problem remediation
  • Provides leadership in the evaluation of new communications and network technologies and recommend improvements leading to improved performance and/or lower operating costs
  • Provides technical expertise in the evaluation, selection and implementation of server hardware and software
  • Provides technical expertise in the design, vendor selection and implementation of tele-communications technologies solutions
  • Provides on-going reporting concerning the efficiency of the organizations network and critical components, and recommends and implements solutions to detect and/or correct problems in a real-time environment
  • Implements and supports virtual private network software and hardware
  • Participates in the design and implementation of fail-over and disaster recovery measures involving telecommunications, network and applications platforms
  • Participates in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures to protect and insure the efficient operation of the network
  • Provides administrative and technical support to the Information storage and retrieval technologies (Database) technologies used within the organization. This includes the installation, upgrading, maintenance and performance monitoring of technologies such as UDB, SQL, Progress etc.
  • Provides backup support of enterprise gateway software and firewall technologies
  • Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to quickly grasp concepts dealing with communications, application, and connectivity issues.
  • Ability to describe technical issues in non-technical (business) terms.
  • Interpersonal skills enabling this person to occasionally lead and participate in group and team settings addressing technical issues.
  • Customer Service focus
  • Technical training and/or equivalent experience in tele-communications and networking.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business administration and a minimum of 3 years administrative and technical support experience in large-scale nationwide network support or an equivalent combination of education and experience

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Certification in Network Administration.
  • Certification in Network engineering.
  • Certification in Database administration.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : May occasionally be required to lift 30 pounds
