Conformal Coating Operator (Manufacturing)

Conformal Coating Operator:
• Location – Rapid City, SD
• Full-Time Position
• Hours – Monday-Friday (7:30a – 3:30p); voluntary OT is sometimes available

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for applying coatings to various electronic printed circuit assemblies. These coatings are added during different stages of production. 
  • The main duties of the Conformal Coating Operator involve:
    • Preparing the PCAs by Kapton taping, covering with boots connectors and components that do not require coatings.
    • Inspecting the units before application of the coatings [required vs non-required coated areas].
    • Applying the coatings manually.
    • Setting up the area for the coating process.
    • Ensuring the quality control of finished coated PCAs.
    • Remove the Kapton tape, boots and protecting material.
    • Maintain the inventory of equipment, fixtures, materials and other.
    • Accurate record-keeping and adherence to safety protocols are essential tasks that contribute to the operational efficiency and compliance of the manufacturing facility. 
    • De-panel manually PCAs that can't be laser.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools
  • Ability to follow detailed technical instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Comfortably performing repetitive tasks with consistent accuracy
  • Basic computer literacy, including the ability to complete digital training modules
  • Ability to work under a microscope for extended periods
  • Willingness to comply with strict ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and safety protocols

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in electronics manufacturing, cleanroom environments, or similar precision-based industries
  • Familiarity with handling adhesives, sealants, or chemical compounds in a production setting
  • Experience using small hand tools such as tweezers, syringes, or micro-screwdrivers.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards or other industry-specific quality standards.
