NLP Administrator (Personal Services)



Job Summary:

To lead and direct the New Life Program of Women and Family Ministry through oversight and supervision of staff and training for program participants working towards their most viably-secure level of independence through counseling, accountability, and instruction.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Function as a positive contributing staff member of City Union Mission by engaging in timely communication, active participation in meetings, strategic planning, data management, supplying accurate reports, and problem solving to ensure unity with the purpose and goals of the Mission
  •  Lead and encourage staff in order to fulfill their calling and job description, and provide effective guidance in conflict resolution, mediation, instruction and training, and performance evaluations
  • Direct the NLP team to plan and execute special and seasonal events planning, graduations, family camp, and Camp CUMCITO
  • Work with the NLP team, and Director of Women and Family Ministry to identify changes in program structure, assessment, client training, education needs.  Participate on a team to develop and update curriculum for New Life Program classes as assigned
  • Collaborate with Clinical Program Director and Vocational Ministry in providing counseling, educational, and vocational services to the NLP participants
  • Act as a resource person in the planning and/or updating of other departments with Family Ministry and network with other agencies, associations, and Christian counseling groups. Purposes could include: joining services to help low income and homeless families, educating one another, and widening resources for referral and education
  • Maintain appropriate certification and professional development plan
  • Teach classes for the New Life Program and Family Center
  • Perform other duties as required

City Union Mission Requirements:

  • Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities arise during the workday. (1 Peter 2:21, 3:15)

  • Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities to advance ministry to those currently homeless, and the urban poor of Kansas City, with a compassionate heart.

  • Agree to City Union Mission's Statement of Ministry:

    • Be a genuine believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, as expressed by personal testimony and conduct.

    • Be a member in good standing of a recognized protestant, evangelical church for one year or more.

    • Have a genuine concern for the ministry of City Union Mission.

    • Have a minimum of one year of sobriety from alcohol and drugs and six months from tobacco.

    • Agree to abstain from alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, and tobacco while employed by City Union Mission.

    • Have a lifestyle that is free of sexual sin as clearly defined in the Bible.



Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to lead others in spiritual maturity and demonstrate the attributes of a Christian role model with clients, staff, and the community at large (1Timothy 4:12; Joshua 24:15)

  • Demonstrate leadership, good judgment, sensitivity, neatness, accuracy and dependability

  • Must be able to demonstrate effective and clear communication, and be flexible and adaptable to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrate computer literacy in Google and Microsoft applications

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in ministry, behavioral health, or related field from a regionally accredited school, and 4+ years' experience in program administration or development.

  • Preferred: Master's degree in ministry, behavioral health, or related field from a regionally accredited school, and 3+ years' experience as in program administration/leadership in a faith-based behavioral health, addiction recovery treatment program.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting/standing/kneeling, etc.

  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs multiple times throughout shift.

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds at times.

  • Must be able to operate motor vehicle, such as 15-passenger van.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to drive to our campuses in Kansas City and in Warsaw, or to local service agencies as needed
