A Brief Overview

The Plant Hygienist plays a critical role in ensuring that all hygiene-related processes, systems, equipment, and personnel adhere to the highest standards of efficacy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This position is responsible for overseeing cleaning protocols, sanitation procedures, environmental and critical equipment hygiene monitoring programs and employee training to maintain a safe and compliant manufacturing environment.

What you will do

  • Create and update cleaning and sanitization work instructions for production and manufacturing equipment to maintain compliance and operational excellence for existing product portfolio and new launch.
  • Lead C&S validation protocols for all manufacturing cleaning and sanitization processes.
  • Develop and manage the Site Cleaning & Sanitization (C&S) Master Plan, ensuring consistency and efficacy across all sanitation processes.
  • Optimize cleaning recipes by collaborating with Research & Development, Plant Operations, and Customers to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide training to applicable employees.
  • Standardize best practices for cleaning and sanitization by working closely with other hygienists across the network.
  • Support improvement initiatives through continuous improvement projects focused on optimizing cleaning recipes, 10sanitization recipes, and enhancing environmental responsibility.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve Out of Specification (OOS) microbiological issues, ensuring corrective actions align with quality standards.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize Clean-in-Place (CIP) recipes within processing equipment to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Provide guidance to hygienic design of equipment for product contact surfaces.
  • Responsible for site's monitoring programs for critical utilities and environment. Perform quarterly trend review of purified water distribution system, compressed air and site environmental monitoring program. Prepares and executes the quality report.
  • Maintain and monitor pest control program.
  • Perform special projects and internal audits as directed.
  • Some duties may vary slightly by location.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field (Chemical Engineering preferred (Preferred)


Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years in a manufacturing environment working with processing equipment and chemicals. (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years conducting risk analysis to assess and mitigate potential hazards. (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years industrial microbiology knowledge with an understanding of contamination control. (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years working knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) and ISO 9001 standards. (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint – required; Microsoft Project – desired). (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years technical writing proficiency to compose and maintain clear, detailed documentation. (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years capability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and external partners. (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years persuasion, influence, and negotiation skills to support decision-making and compliance efforts. (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years results-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement. (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years industry-specific expertise is a plus. (Preferred)
