Open Rank Neonatology (Finance)



The Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking an Open Rank faculty member to join our growing Division of Neonatology. The Division of Neonatology is based out of the USF Health campus at Tampa General Hospital and is expanding to Tampa General Hospital North - Spring Hill. This faculty position will be based at the TGH North - Spring Hill NICU, a 10-bed Level II unit which is only one of two serving Hernando County. A multi-disciplinary team of neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, nurses, nutritionists and respiratory therapists take a collaborative, evidence-based approach to the management of complicated neonatal problems. Faculty based at Spring Hill will be members of the division which participates in the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative, Vermont Oxford Network and UHC. MINIMUM:
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in patient care, teaching, academic research, and service.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
  • For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in referred and other professional journals.
  • Candidate must be Board-Certified/Board-Eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine prior to the date of hire, a Florida Medical License is required.

  • Teaching Duties: The faculty member appointed will be encouraged to contribute to departmental teaching programs involving medical students and house staff.
  • Research Duties: Collaborative effort within the Department and the University will be encouraged.
  • Clinical Duties: Provide medical care for neonates in the Level 2 NICU to include onsite call coverage (nights and weekends) as well as call coverage from home.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.
