Assistant Team Lead - 1st Shift (Finance)



Step into a leadership-support role and help keep production moving. As an Assistant Team Lead at MacLean-Fogg, you'll work closely with the Team Lead to support daily operations, coordinate workflow, and ensure your area hits safety, quality, and output goals. You'll also fill in on the line as needed, troubleshoot issues, and help maintain strong communication between shifts, teams, and departments. Job Details
  • Position Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
  • Pay Range: $19.43 - $19.77 per hour (depending on skills and experience)
  • Work Location: Onsite - Sterling, Illinois
  • Shift: 1st Shift (Monday-Thursday 6 AM-2:30 PM; Friday 6 AM-12 PM)
Key Responsibilities
  • Support Team Leads in coordinating daily activities in your assigned production area
  • Help troubleshoot equipment, resolve technical and quality issues, and assist with basic machine setup
  • Operate machinery in your department when needed to support production
  • Ensure all workstations remain stocked with materials/components for smooth operations
  • Accurately complete required production and quality documentation
  • Inspect materials and finished parts for defects; monitor equipment condition
  • Facilitate clear communication between shifts, departments, and plant leadership
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and production tracking
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts and help implement new efficiencies
  • Ensure production output meets quality and schedule expectations
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with 5S standards
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team goals

  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and production schedules
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid math and measurement skills
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well across teams
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to foster teamwork
  • Comfortable working with minimal supervision
Qualifications (Required)
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 1-4 years in a manufacturing environment
    • Able to provide peer coaching and support small groups
    • Able to solve most routine issues independently; escalate more complex problems as needed
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Required to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to push/pull objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending and stooping required.
  • Must have the dexterity to handle small objects.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments.
