Your Role

As a Land Survey Technician, you will provide both office and field survey support to our site development and transportation groups. Based in Irvine, CA, you'll support surveying/mapping, GIS, and civil engineering activities on projects ranging from roadway and utility design to industrial and military facilities. You'll also be trained to perform topographic, boundary, and GPS control surveys, with opportunities to gain exposure to emerging technologies such as UAS (drone) surveys and laser scanning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collect and process survey data in accordance with industry and client specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to CADD operators and design staff; coordinate site visits with project team personnel.
  • Support mapping and office survey tasks under the direction of a licensed land surveyor.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure project deliverables meet all necessary standards.
  • Operate survey equipment, adopt new technologies, and continuously learn new techniques.
  • Perform occasional travel (approximately once per quarter) to project sites such as Northern California and Flagstaff, AZ.
  • Perform fieldwork that may require lifting and carrying 40+ lbs. across rough terrain.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college-level coursework in Civil Engineering or Land Surveying highly desirable.
  • 3+ years of field surveying experience, ideally including boundary surveys.
  • Experience with survey office tasks such as drafting, mapping, and data processing.
  • LSIT registration in the State of California (or ability to obtain within 6 months), preferred.
  • Background in civil engineering project work and knowledge of municipal and state projects is ideal.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Autodesk-related products required. Familiarity with MicroStation, Microsoft Office, and scheduling programs a plus.
  • Knowledge of survey data collection methods and data processing.
  • Valid California State Driver's License required.
