Assistant Director (Finance)

The Student Success division at the University of South Florida is comprised of 60 departments, providing students with academic support, engagement opportunities, health & wellness services, and enhancement of the educational experience. The Office of Academic Advocacy (OAA) serves all undergraduate degree-seeking students in support of the institution's strategic goals and metrics. They apply data-informed approaches in their outreach practice, respond to referrals regarding students with academic barriers, and support those students via a case management approach. This unit informs leadership on student trends and barriers to support improvements to policy, process, and procedure.

The Assistant Director supports the mission of the Office of Academic Advocacy by leading and supervising a team of academic advocates dedicated to serving undergraduate students in their pursuit of timely progression to graduation. Undergraduate students identified as experiencing barriers to retention, progression or graduation may receive direct outreach from OAA Advocates to review their progress and to advise them towards graduation. The Assistant Director is assigned a team and specific charge based on the strategic needs of the University (e.g., first-year retention, progression, etc.). The Assistant Director works with their team develop and implement strategies and interventions that will support and advance the university's strategic needs, goals, and key metrics as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:

• Requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of 4 years of related exempt level experience including 2 years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in a student affairs position or a Master's degree in Higher Education or College Student Affairs and three years of relevant experience. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.

• Supervision and Team Management: Directly supervise Academic Advocates, professional staff, and graduate assistants within the critical mission teams (1st year, Progression, Transfer, Intake). Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development for team members. Assign Academic Advocates to representative student populations based on team goals and data-informed strategies. Maintain quality standards for case management, which includes data
  collection, analysis, and reporting of case management services and impact.
• Data and Goal Development: Develop team goals in collaboration with the OAA Director and Data Manager, using analytical and evidence-informed decision-making skills. Represent OAA in data and technology development efforts related to student success goals.
• Collaboration and Outreach: Lead collaborative efforts across colleges, campuses, and units to develop strategies and interventions to support student success and institutional attainment of metric goals. Contribute to committees aligned with critical team goals as assigned. Present at meetings, workshops, and conferences to advance understanding of team goals and the mission of OAA. Coordinate and track team contributions, including travel related to professional development.
• Direct Student Support: Provide Academic Advocate support to assigned student populations. Respond to referrals regarding academic barriers through a case
  management approach.
• Special Projects: Coordinate special projects related to the goals of the team or broader UGS/Student Success efforts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
