Operations Controller (Finance)



Overview

The Operations Controller will be responsible for ensuring fiscal discipline, cost containment, the stewardship of the Company's assets and all financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards; including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for assigned businesses.
  • Consolidate the financial statements of assigned businesses into one comprehensive package for monthly executive management review.
  • Ensure legal entity consolidations and intercompany eliminations are accurate and complete monthly and quarterly.
  • Develop and manage the annual budgeting process for assigned businesses and consolidate into a comprehensive package for executive review.
  • Provide short and long-term forecasts.
  • Manage assigned business cash flow to ensure liquidity for operations and capital budgeting.
  • Manage the month-end and quarter-end close process including consolidation of operations.
  • Manage the corporate audit process and oversee the audit process of assigned businesses.
  • Continuously review and enhance financial processes and controls to improve efficiency.
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor finance and accounting teams.
  • Foster a collaborative results-driven work environment.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and timely completion of the annual external audit process.
  • Maintain a strong internal controls to satisfy all corporate SOX requirements and support Internal Audit with their effort to streamline controls.
  • Develop and support operational strategies.
  • Works with executive leadership to develop accounting policies and business platforms.
  • Direct all aspects of accounting for field operations and corporate office.
  • Responsible for internal and external financial reporting.
  • Provide accounting and financial support to the business leaders throughout assigned business units.
  • Responsible for helping the Company to achieve financial goals and objectives and increase operating performance. Prepares budgets, creates businesses plans, and solves internal issues as they arise.
  • Prepares reports and presentations of financial performance for stakeholders.
  • Set strategic goals, monitor work, and evaluate results to ensure that departmental and organizational objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting and/or auditing principles, practices, concepts, and systems.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting standards
  • Strong understanding of legal entity consolidations and intercompany eliminations.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex financial and accounting concepts in a business setting, including non-financial professionals.
  • Identify, lead, and drive data and technology improvements, process improvements, and best practices.
  • Train, develop, coach, and mentor professionals to be successful in their current roles while providing opportunities for growth.
  • Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
  • Ability to use thinking, reasoning to make critical decisions.
  • Collaborate on special projects with cross functional team members.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Education:

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related degree; An advanced degree is preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with a preference for both industry and public accounting experience. A minimum of 3 to 5 years leading a team is required. CPA is preferred but not required.

Work Conditions:

Standard Office Criteria. Typical work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in a hybrid work environment.

Work Environment:

Office environment with some shop environment exposure. Shop environment may not have air conditioning. Apply
