Job Summary
Monitors and directs the operation of Vistra's generation resources as efficiently and economically as possible in accordance with guidelines to meet real time market requirements.Job Description
Key Accountabilities
- Monitors generation requirements and output levels continuously to ensure real-time, and Day ahead obligations are met through AGC, balancing energy deployments, other market deployments, and ancillary service obligations.
- Interfaces with plant personnel to specify unit start and stop times, real-time unit deployments, and the status of units.
- Ensures the fleet runs at the most cost-effective levels.
- Know Real-Time Power and Gas unit and station position and report to DA traders and management.
- Monitor gas burns and gas burn forecasts and communication changes to the gas traders effectively.
- Maintains an accurate and timely daily generation log and entering and maintaining outage/derate tickets in the market-specific portals.
- Anticipates critical operating conditions in Real-Time and takes steps to avoid problems through the re-dispatch of units.
- Obtaining and Maintaining required certifications, and compliance and market training up to date and completed on time.
- Other ad-hoc, and tasks assigned by DA traders and management as needed.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
- 2+ years of energy (or related industry) experience preferred.
- Strong organization skills and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Able to work 12-hour shifts which include working nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24-hour coverage of trading desk
- Understanding and responding to power market fundamentals
- Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills and participate in solution implementation.
- Self-starter capable of working effectively in a high energy, high stress, fast paced environment.
- Detail oriented and able to effectively work under deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to the above skills.
