DIRECTOR - BUSINESS PROCESSES (Finance)



Position Description

This position will oversee the business processes and internal reporting functions for the Natural Gas Operations Management and Field Operations organizations. Support includes, but is not limited to:

  • Team Management and Development
  • Process / Procedure Improvement, including Automation (where possible)
  • Application System Development, Enhancements, and Testing
  • Internal Reporting Requirements / Customized Report Writing for Field Operations
Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of business process analysts and one dedicated IT resource.
  • Assist in the accumulation, review and communication of maintenance / sustaining capital and O&M (expense) financial information, as well as other Operational Administrative Management data that is collected via multiple data sources and individuals. Reporting information includes, but is not limited to: Budget, Forecast, Actuals, Variance Reports, Data required for various Business Reviews, Historical Comparisons / Trending, Financial and Non-Financial data required for Operational reporting, ad-hoc reports and data requests.
  • Analyze and understand reporting data; actively pursue the cause of discrepancies, identify and communicate areas where data management and/or analytical results indicate a need for improvement.
  • Communicate with all levels of the organization to obtain data and information necessary to complete duties / responsibilities.
  • Serve as a liaison between Operations and IT for application system improvements, enhancements, testing, etc.
  • Identify opportunities and develop automated solutions to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the reporting / processes, as well as other Operational needs.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple individuals and groups across the Company (Corporate Accounting, Corporate Financial Planning, Accounts Payable, Procurement, IT, etc.)
  • Build out, improve, and maintain the Operations Business Processes website for References, Policies and Procedures
  • Maintain accurate and timely completion of all activities / priorities.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
  • MBA / CPA
  • Managerial / Supervisory Experience
  • Experience with Lawson financial systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Basic and/or Power BI
  • Experience in Natural Gas field operations

Position Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of Financial Analysis / Planning / Accounting experience and/or Bachelor's Degree in Finance / Accounting
  • 5+ years of Oil / Gas / Energy experience
  • Excellent oral / written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels in the organization.
  • Confident and approachable team leader
  • Ability to solve complex problems through solution-oriented analysis in a cost-effective manner.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects during peak times, and effectively delegate where appropriate.
  • Advanced Excel skill set
  • Experience with accounting systems, budgets, financial analysis, and management reporting
  • Proven record of working with multiple layers of management to perform multifaceted financial forecasting and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently to understand, design, and create complex reports.
  • Effectively communicate results of any analysis in an accurate, clear, and concise manner
  • Experience and expertise to anticipate:
    • Unexpected issues or matters that may arise.
    • Questions from Senior Management and have the skills to address questions quickly and intelligently.
  • Ability to assess talent and effectively plan and assign work.
  • Strong attention to detail to produce an accurate work product that addresses the customers' needs in a clear and concise manner.
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Work untraditional hours (at times) to meet critical deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes
  • Ability to validate and prove the accuracy of data, reports, and other documents.
  • Ability to work and manage large data sets at the detail level - combined with the ability to manage / communicate resulting information at the higher managerial levels.
