Houston Public Media wants you to help us establish our next regional news bureau. As our newsroom continues to grow and we look for innovative ways to engage our audience, we're launching a bureau in Galveston County - the region's biggest driver of tourism and outdoor recreation.
Galveston County has a population of 360,000 and attracts millions of visitors from around the world. The county is home to one of the nation's largest cruise terminals, robust maritime and seafood industries, a major medical center and rich culture and history. The county includes nearly 400 miles of beaches and stretches from the Gulf Coast to suburban Houston bedroom communities. It blends urban, suburban and rural issues.
Our ideal candidate knows how to write for our digital platforms and has what it takes to create compelling radio stories for local and national audiences.
This journalist will live and work in Galveston County and will be responsible for covering a wide range of issues, from politics and education to business and culture.
We're looking for a motivated, curious journalist who hunts for the stories nobody else is reporting.
