NI-Advanced Practice Provider, Pre-Procedure Clinic (Finance)



UW Health in northern Illinois is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Pre-Procedure Clinic team. This outpatient position plays a critical role in preparing patients for surgical procedures by conducting comprehensive pre-operative evaluations, ensuring they are medically optimized and cleared to safely undergo anesthesia and surgery.

Your clinical support includes the following:

  • Perform detailed pre-operative histories and physicals for patients scheduled for surgery within the UW Health system.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, EKGs, and imaging studies as clinically indicated to assess surgical readiness.
  • Identify and manage medical conditions that may impact surgical risk, collaborating with surgical teams and primary care providers when needed.
  • Schedule includes longer appointment times to allow for thorough evaluations.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and specialty providers to ensure streamlined and safe surgical experiences.
  • Outpatient-based role with no call or weekend responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Illinois (or eligible).
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in surgical, anesthesia, perioperative, or internal medicine settings strongly preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment and comfort with independent decision-making in a protocol-driven environment.
  • Experience ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
  • Exceptional communication and patient education skills.
