Quality Assurance Manager (Project Management)

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
The QA Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining quality assurance processes within a specific Business Unit to ensure that products and services consistently meet established quality standards and customer expectations. This role acts as a key liaison between customers, manufacturing partners, and internal teams, driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with both Business Unit and industry quality requirements. The QA Manager will develop, implement, and monitor quality systems relevant to the Business Unit's operations, manage customer quality concerns, and collaborate cross-functionally to promote a strong quality culture. This managerial role is primarily focused on functional responsibilities but may also involve direct staff management depending on business needs.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance policies, procedures, and standards specific to the Business Unit.

Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality-related communications and issue resolution within the Business Unit.

Collaborate with key customers to define and uphold specific quality requirements beyond standard specifications.

Coordinate with manufacturing partners, suppliers, and factory teams to ensure adherence to defined quality requirements.

Lead and support internal and external quality audits, including corrective and preventive action processes, within the scope of the Business Unit.

Monitor and analyze quality performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Manage non-conformance reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.

Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, certifications, and regulatory requirements relevant to the Business Unit's products.

Collaborate with engineering, operations, and supply chain teams within the Business Unit to support quality objectives across the product lifecycle.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process efficiency within the Business Unit.

Promote and support the use of structured quality methodologies (e.g., FMEA, DOE, SPC) where applicable to improve product and process reliability.

Maintain and improve documentation related to quality systems, including quality manuals, procedures, and records.

Support new product introduction (NPI) activities within the Business Unit to ensure quality standards are integrated from prototype through production.

Provide training and guidance to internal teams and suppliers on quality processes and expectations.

Support Business Unit objectives by promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Report on key quality metrics and present findings to Business Unit leadership as needed.

May require occasional domestic or international travel to support customer or supplier quality initiatives.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance or quality management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and standards such as ISO 9001 or equivalent.

Experience with root cause analysis methodologies and corrective/preventive action processes (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys).

Familiarity with manufacturing processes, supplier quality management, and production environments.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, suppliers, factory teams, and cross-functional internal teams.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Proficiency in quality-related tools and software (e.g., SPC, Minitab, ERP/QMS systems).

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a dynamic environment.

Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to the Business Unit's industry sector.

Certification such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or CQA (Certified Quality Auditor) is preferred but not required.

Physical & Environmental requirements:

Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
Occasionally moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
occasionally operating machinery and/or power tools.
Occasionally operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
Occasional exposure to low temperatures and high temperatures
Constant sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Occasional light to heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 pounds or more.
Occasional ability to travel.
